Can you tell us a little about your background before starting at your company?
I have always had a strong affinity for language and how communication can make complex ideas easier to understand. I studied communication and spent more than 20 years working in banking, finance and medical technology, leading change and helping people navigate technical information. That experience prepared me well for Raindrop, where our mission is to bring clarity to complex insurance language.
How did you start at your company? What were the first steps you took to get it off the ground and how did you identify the need for your product/service in the market?
The idea began when I spent around 15 hours trying to understand my own family’s insurance policies. I realised the problem was not a lack of information—it was that the language was incredibly difficult to interpret. During a Swiss Insurance NLP workshop, I discovered how artificial intelligence and natural language processing could help solve this problem. That was the moment the idea for Raindrop became a company.
What innovations or unique features set your company apart from others in the industry?
Raindrop uses AI to transform complex insurance policies into clear, structured and comparable information. But we are building more than a document-processing tool—we are creating a system of meaning for insurance.
The industry needs consistent, trustworthy insurance data that people, systems and AI agents can understand in the same way. This is becoming increasingly important as technology providers build agentic workflows for insurance recommendations, distribution and service. By creating a common layer of meaning, Raindrop helps those workflows operate with greater trust, accuracy and effectiveness.
What has been the most effective strategy for scaling your business?
Our most effective strategy has been staying close to our customers and building around real industry problems. We work with insurance professionals, brokers and technology partners to continuously test and improve the platform. Strong relationships, practical value and a willingness to keep learning have been central to our growth.
Looking ahead, what are your goals for the future of your company?
Our goal is to become a trusted clarity platform and system of meaning for the insurance industry. As AI and agentic workflows become more important, insurance data must be consistent, understandable and reliable.
We want to provide the foundation that helps insurance carriers and technology providers build more trustworthy and effective insurance wordings—while making the industry clearer and more human for everyone.
